of our brands. Start by reviewing European and New York runway styles, fashion
reporting service slides, and fabric samples. Our designers also consider the
best-selling items from prior seasons and integrate current fashion ideas from
the non-maternity apparel market.
Finance & Accounting
Gain invaluable experience in general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts
payable, and financial management. Plus, gain high-profile exposure to senior
management and many opportunities for advancement.
Human Resources
Our HR team is highly regarded throughout Mothers Work, and is responsible for
handling recruiting, training, retention, benefits and employee relations. Be a part
of an exciting group, and learn the operating details of a major retail organization.
Legal
Our expert legal team is responsible for all corporate and legal matters
involving licensing agreements, real estate and lease agreements,
employee relations issues, and litigation. In addition, this group reviews
all domestic and international contracts.
Management Information Systems (MIS)
Mothers Work runs a variety of web-based, proprietary technology
systems that provide a unique IT experience. MIS is also responsible
for programming, hardware configuration, technical support and
troubleshooting, web site maintenance, and the development of new
technologies to maintain our competitive edge.
Marketing
Be a part of creative brilliance coming to life and generating demand for
A Pea in the Pod, Mimi, Motherhood and Destination Maternity fashions and stores.
Advertisting and editorial can be found on the pages of leading magazines such
as Vogue, Lucky, Fit Pregnancy, InStyle, and Glamour as well as editorial on television,
radio and in newspapers. This wide-ranging department is responsible for our
public relations, advertising, celebrity sponsorship, photography, business development,
e-mails, marketing, brand and tag creation, graphic design, gift cards and in-store
signage and promotional programs.

Merchandising
We strive to maintain an appropriate balance between new merchandise and
proven styles, as well as between basics and fashion items. Our merchandising
decisions are based on current fashion trends here and abroad, input from our
designers and vendors plus item-specific sales data from our point-of-sale and
other proprietary systems.
Planning
Our planning department works directly with merchandising to make decisions
on future inventory purchases and markdowns, as well as targeting overall
inventory levels and turnover. We establish target inventories for each store
using our inventory planning system, which allows us to continually monitor
and respond quickly to consumer demand.
Production
Our production team is responsible for selecting overseas vendors for import
garment manufacturing as well as sewing, marking & grading, fabric and trim
sourcing, patternmaking, and technical design. We track garments through the
entire production process, ensuring the highest quality standards.
Real Estate & Construction
In addition to negotiating mall space, this department is responsible for managing
new construction projects, locating properties for new store construction, maintaining
existing stores, and setting up department areas in leased locations.
Sales and Sales Management
The Sales team in the field is on the front line, representing
Mothers Work to our clients. Sales team members are given the
opportunity to take on responsibilities unprecedented at other
fashion retailers. Successful sales associates seeking a future
career in retail can follow the path to Assistant Store Manager,
Store Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager or pursue
opportunities in the corporate office.
Store Operations
Store operations works closely with team members in the field
to ensure the stores and team members are equipped with
everything they need to operate successfully. This group prepares
store communications, manages store-level inventory, policies and
procedures and assists with the opening of every Mothers Work
maternity location.
Technical Design
This group is all about finding the perfect fit. Working with the
designers and merchandisers, this team fits each garment using
live models. They also set the specs, working with vendors
domestically and internationally to make sure each garment is
manufactured to lay just right on the mom-to-be.
